My gosh, it feels so foreign to be doing this again! Weird! And of course, Kelsey is out of town, so I'm fielding this one by myself. But, if you're new, this is essentially "Follow Friday", and it is put on by this lovely blog. Check it out!
I feel almost bad answering this. It drives me nuts when this happens. I don't know why, but it just makes me want to pull my hair out. Though, that's a tad on the dramatic side. I'm a firm believer in following your own ideas. Create an unique world, your own world essentially. Don't monopolize on someones success! At least, in my opinion.

Hi thank you for the follow. I am a new follower to your blog! You have a great answer. I can see where it would drive you nuts. Some books do that to me. lol
ReplyDeletebroski can you help me? :$
ReplyDeleteThanks for the follow! New follower. Great answer!
ReplyDeleteI think a truly original idea is near impossible and that 99.9% of writers take inspiration from other stories, whether they mean to or not. That doesnt mean they should completely regurgitate another authors work tho! They definitely need to put their own ideas and creativity into their story for it to be worth my time.

ReplyDeleteLove your answer :) Following you back :)
ReplyDeleteExact replicas drive me nuts too. But if it's a retelling of a classic, for example Alice In Wonderland, and they write it in a unique way, I'm all for it! New GFC follower :)
ReplyDeleteHere's my FF
Great answer. I agree.

ReplyDeleteNew Follower! :)
I totally agree about attempting to create your own world and not cash in on another's success. I think that's why I avoid vampire books in general -- if I start reading another Twilight knock-off I'll...probably not do anything. Maybe give it a bad review. Take that bad vampire books!
ReplyDeleteFollowing you back :)
I usually don't mind as long as there is some originality - something different, even if the books are a similar concept.
ReplyDeleteNice answer! :)
ReplyDeleteNew follower!
I don't mind when it's purposeful, like when people pull from mythology or interesting fairytale retellings (Cinder comes to mind here). I don't like repetitive plots or downright copying.
ReplyDeleteNew follower! My follow friday! Please visit!
A big part of my feelings against fanfic is that exact thing! Thanks for visiting my blog, new GFC follower in return!
ReplyDeleteI don't mind as long as they add something to it to make it their own. Thanks for stopping by my blog! Following you back via GFC. :)
ReplyDeleteI can agree to a point, but hardly anything is original these days. A writer has to take a used idea and make it their own. Which I have read sooo many vampire books and I have loved them all because they were different in their own way. :)
ReplyDeleteHere's my Follow Friday
Have a GREAT weekend!

Cool answer. I agree that it needs to be unique, but I'm more tolerable towards such things. A good book is a good book, whether it's been done before or not.
